Today, Jacob found out that his little mini DIY amplifier he made awhile back can be "circuit bent" to create amazingly annoying noises (as Jeffrey can attest). Anyway, we both started jamming with it and created this awesome little video. Check it out at youtube: here.

In the video, you see both Jacob and myself playing the amplifier with our fingers. We are shorting it out to make different noises and to create distortion. We are using an oldschool gameboy as our source noise and running it through one of the most ghetto speaker systems in existance: two 2 inch speakers using CDR spindle cases as the speaker case. In part of the video - we wrapped the speakers in shirts to muffle the noise. It was apparently really annoying.

For those of you not in the "know" - circuit bending is when you take an electronic something or another and short circuit certain parts of it to make it do something interesting. This is often done with various musical or audio toys; making them into awesome "instruments." For more videos and what not check out this dope gallery of circuit bent toys and whatnot.

Hey dewds! I was on a website (not myspace i swear) and there were a bunch of user contributed images that were really wide that messed up the page so I made this bookmarklet that asks you the max width you want all images to be and then resizes the ones that are bigger! Here it is!

So I had a lot of fun making that scroller bookmarklet and decided to make another. I don't think this one is very cool just yet but its got some potential. It's basically just a web search for the page you're on, finds the keywords and the text around it and displays it at the top in one spot. I have plans to add anchors at the actuall position of the words so you can click the search results to jump to the actual words (did that make sense?) Anyway, check it out, let me know what you think.

Hi everyone!

During lunch today I was reading some threads on Yayhooray and kept getting pissed off because I had to take braeks from my cheeseburger in order to scroll a thread! So I decided to make a little bookmarklet called skinnyScroller that opens a little window on the website you're on that makes the site auto-scroll for you! Check it out!

skinnyScroll

(For Firefox , Drag that link to your toolbar!, Others just add it as a bookmark! )

PS. It's not perfect, but don't worry because as I fix things it will update your bookmarklet automagically

Gettin' nervous! Next week we (Jacob, Jeffrey and I) are headed to LA to give a presentation at UCLA on Threadless. We have 2 hours and will be talking about how we created Threadless, why it works and such to their business students.

Then the next day we're making a live appearance on G4's Attack of the Show (March 1st). So make sure you set your tivos so you can watch us sweat!

THEN, we're headed off to Austin to be in a panel discussion at SXSW on "Designing for community with 'zero-advertising' brands." Should be interesting. It's on March 13th from 3:30-4:30pm.

(Luckily I'll be heading to Colorado in between those trips to get my snowboard on in the Rockies)

Yeehaw!

Hi everyone! I'm Jacob, the Vice President. Aren't blogs awesome? I'm excited to post snibbits of code that we work on here that you may find useful! I have the office near the windows so the right side of my head has a nice tan, but the left side is pretty white. Have a great day!
